"Tenting"

The weather isn't exactly optimal yet for a camping trip, so Daddy decided that he would bring the camping inside. They were really roughing it...inside the climate controlled house and watching tv! (c: Caden has now decided that it isn't called "camping", it's called "tenting"...I can understand the confusion.

Ahoy, Matey!

As you can see, Frank is still alive and well, and UNFORTUNATELY, still at our house! But the kiddos seem to be partial to the pirate life as they seem to enjoy him perching on their shoulders. *sigh* I guess you can't win 'em all...

It's official...I am part white trash

So this last weekend we had some Monster Truck tickets fall in our lap and Josh decided that this time around, it should be a family affair, Skylar and I included. Needless to say, I was not exactly excited about the prospect of attending said event. It made me feel a little better that it was a box and not right on the floor...but still, monster trucks, really??? Okay, here is the surprising part...I actually kinda *enjoyed* myself! They had the monster trucks, but then they had dirt bike and ATV races, too. They had little 4 and 6 year-olds on dirt bikes, how adorable is that? (c: But you know you are a mom when the kids have a crash and one of them is hurt and you are crying even though you have no idea who that kids is. I'm so embarrassing sometimes...(c: Anyways, it was actually a fun little night, so I concluded that I must be part white trash because I enjoyed a monster truck show...Josh disagrees...(c:

Say hello to Frank...

This is Frank. Yes, Frank the parakeet. Don't ask me where that name came from (originally it was "sponge bob"), Caden just made it up. Uncle Rusty just took a trip to AZ and thought that the perfect present to bring home to his nephew would be a bird. Are you confused as to how he came to that conclusion?? Yeah, so am I. I promptly explained that this is not an appropriate gift for a three year-old and also that his mommy definitely does NOT approve! Unfortunately, so far the bird is still here and Caden is in love. DANG YOU, RUSTY, DANG YOU!

Oh, and thanks. I guess.
Caden learned this song in nursery at church and was pretty darn proud of himself. I especially like the word "over" that he just tacked on the end of the song to signal that it was done. Brillant. Or maybe that was just his way of saying "Crazy mom, you can stop filming me now"...

Once upon a time...

Skylar found these goofy glasses at Grandma Lisa's house and decided that they were exactly perfect for reading. Hmmm. Well, I guess the upside is that it is pretty funny looking and maybe someday she will be a big fan of reading??? I have no idea where she gets this need for accessorizing...neither does her Dad...(c:

Some big shoes to fill...

Doesn't every kid at some point put on their Dad's *GINORMOUS* shoes???

Walking with DINOSAURS!!!

We were lucky enough to get invited by some friends to go see the "Walking with Dinosaurs" show (heaven knows I wasn't going to pay what they wanted for those tickets!!!) and it was pretty awesome. Caden was MESMERIZED the entire time...Skylar, well, after the initial shock/crying/clinging to mommy, she thought it was pretty cool, too. All we heard for the rest of the night (and the next couple days) was about the baby dinosaur, the daddy dinosaur, the dead dinosaur, the fighting dinosaur, etc, etc, etc...Needless to say, I'm pretty sure he enjoyed it.

Luck O' the Irish

Don't you just love St. Patrick's Day? I love it because it requires no difficult work/planning on my part...(c: I'm pretty sure the kiddos loved that all of their food was green...I'm not really sure why, go figure, kids like the darndest things...
Skylar just likes food in general and makes the BIGGEST possible mess at every opportunity...

Now Caden is a very neat and tidy kiddo, but all that food you see on that plate? Yeah, didn't eat really any of it! (c:

Don't you just love cell phone pictures?

It's Spring...No, it's Winter! Spring! Winter! Spring!

I wish it would just be SPRING already! Today is so gorgeous and we went to the Aquarium/Bio Park with the aunties and grandma...and yes, those are chickens that Hannah and her boyfriend Casey are holding. Don't ask. (c: You could see that everything is getting ready to bloom...I LOVE SPRING!!! You would never know that we had a couple inches of snow two days ago...

Yikes, Bikes!

So not only does Caden think that his uncle Zach is just about the coolest guy on the planet...but he also thinks that bikes are AWESOME...so the fact that his uncle Zach *owns* a bike that is his size makes him just ADORE his uncle. It's *way* too early for my little baby to be in love with those death machines! (c:

Now Skylar is more into the little girl stuff...she likes to try on mommy's makeup (not as much as Caden, but moving on...), she loves her dresses and jewelry, and loves hanging out with her auntie Hannah and her friend Karina. The swing is just fine as far as thrills go...let's hope it stays that way...*what*??? You think that's unrealistic??? Well, I can hope, can't I? (c;
